A much-loved tramp from Malmesbury who walked across much of the UK will have a bench unveiled in his memory by Mayor Catherine Doody.

Ken Hudson, who took part in the Normandy landings as a marine, was known around Malmesbury for his entertaining conversation and bright personality.

He died from heart disease in November 2008 aged 84, while staying at Athelstan House.

During the mid 1980's Andrew used to fly his kite in the fields behind our house. There had been pigs grazing these fields for years and the land hadn't been ploughed in living memory.
